PAGEList Posting Policy

Please read the following policy. This policy governs all postings to the PAGE list. The PAGE Board of Directors will enforce this policy. Violations may result in the removal from the list.

•  Postings must be related to the general topic of gifted children in Pennsylvania. Please do not post messages that are off-topic.

•  Be civil and respectful. PAGE will not tolerate personal attacks and name calling. Please make thoughtful contributions, not comments that are intended to anger others on the list. Profanity is prohibited.

•  Take extended conversations off the list and correspond directly unless the information will be useful to all.

•  Please remember the listserv is read by over 400 parents and educators.

•  For your own protection, you may want to keep personal details about you or your child to a minimum.

•  All postings must be free of copyright restrictions that limit distribution. For example, posting a significant amount of copyrighted work requires permission of the author.

•  The preferred format for listing is usually plain text; be considerate of others in your use of Bold or CAPS.

•  Announcements or simple statements that offer a way to receive more information related to conferences, workshops, events, publications, position openings or products having to do with gifted children are permitted. Advertisements for products or services are not appropriate.

•  Please use a virus protection program and update it regularly. Please do not post virus warnings.

•  Blatantly political statements are prohibited. You may encourage readers to vote or run for school board, or encourage writing to congressional representatives only for the express purpose of supporting gifted issues.

•  Please be considerate of others if you use an automatic out-of-office or similar notice. Drop off the list temporarily or do not include Pagelist in automatic messaging.

•  Educators should not discuss individual students online. Please be aware that educational records and any information contained in those records are confidential.
